How many times can you say--I had a really nice day at work?

For me that is a very big rareity. We had our Christmas Luncheon yesterday. Turkey, ham, side dishes, rolls, desserts enough to feed an army, we have about 30 out here in the bat cave. Everyone started cooking at 6:30, the kitchen was warm and cozy, we have a full kitchen out here with stove and dishwasher for our occassional parties. Everyone pitched in, we put the tree up and it was just a nice day, I was pooped but it was worth it. We even said prayer before we ate, while I was driving to work I thought we needed one and several people asked me before we ate if we could do it and many today have said thanks for having a prayer. I am sure I will continue to hear about it from the boss but I dont care, we need more prayer in this country, that is why we have so many crimes and delinquents.

So, on those rare occassions when you have a really nice day at work, remember to savor every moment of it and dont let anyone take it from you.

I was reading Kathy's blog, tryintaknit and this was too funny I had to borrow it for mine. Thanks Kathy

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE NORTH POLE!
IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE NORTH POLE!
A Note from: Santa Claus I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer serve the States of Georgia, Florida, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, and Arkansas on Christmas Eve. Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies sokeep that in mind. However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us. Differences such as:
1. There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson." 2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave RC cola and pork rinds [or a moon pie] on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy. 3. Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's freplace. 4. You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen.." when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on Elliott and Petty." 5. "Ho, Ho, Ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat!" 6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back Off." 7. The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other. And Finally,
8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to putpresents under the tree. Sincerely Yours, Santa Claus

Pet Peeve of the Day

I am driving to work, I am on loan to one of our offices in the caves, yes it is a real cave. I drive hiway now and it is very pretty. I had just come over the bridge and some jerkwad throws out their breakfast trash, complete sack, and wrappers from McDonald's. I am pretty sure when he got to work there were trash cans there to throw it in but no he had to trash my beautiful drive to work. Dont you wish there were big hands for something in the sky that came down and smacked someone when they did something like that and then threw the trash back in their car?

I had to go to DC last week and really did not have time to see much but the Air and Space Musuem is out the back door of my HDQ office so they have all the space stuff out right now and a cool display on the Wright Brothers and there is a new Native American Museum a couple blocks down the street, it is 4 floors and i did not get through one floor before they closed, something for next time.

Awaiting snow today, I dont do winter, may have to go home early if it starts sticking too much.

They're making a left turn

I got to see Jeff Dunham Thursday night. He is a hoot. I think I laughed so hard at times I was vapor locked. He had his new stuff and one of his new puppets at this show. When he came back for the encore he brought out Bubba J. He had his notes on a piece of paper but it was not necessary cos the audience knew all the lines. He would say a Jeff line and we would say a Bubba J line. There she was leaning up against the ferris wheel, sunlight streaming off her curlers, corn dog in one hand, a bud light in the other. I think my tatoo is growing. It was hilarious. If you ever get a chance to see him do so, he is so not politically correct but he is a great ventroloquist.

I'm In

I got my invite from Ravelry on Monday so I am NaomiKnitster after my grandmother who taught me to knit. I have almost a month off at Christmas and since my main project is to clean up my craft room I plan on filling in my pages.

If you not happened over to the Glove KAL page, Karen has a new fingerless glove pattern based o nthe gloves and a headband to match. I told her she needs snowflake socks for us now. She is Karendipity on Etsy, check out her gloves you will want to knit them.

It was breathtakingly beautiful out this morning on the way to work. It was just getting light out, it was very frosty on the ground, a little fog just laying over the cars and the city lights off to the right, almost made it worth getting up that early to drive to work. I tried to see the space station and shuttle but I saw nothing this morning, kept looking where they said on the news but I missed both of them.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween: I had a costume laid out, black widow spider but my tomcat yakked a huge hairball on it this morning, so on to plan B for work a halloween tee and jeans. We are having a taco bar and dessert here at work, so nothing will spoil my favorite day. I still think this should be a holiday like Thanksgiving, hey GW how about I switch Halloween for some other holiday that does not mean much to me.

Happy Anniversary to my mom and dad-53 years egads that is a long time.

I got my Rob Zombie music cranked up and we are just kind of hanging out and talking, the boss is in Scotsdale so while he is away we play. I think I saw someone working, I best go smack them and tell them we are not working today.

Does anyone watch the Graham Norton Show? I was flipping through channels one night and noticed Joss Stone was on, I love her, so now I am hooked. Man those BBC people allow a lot more on their TV than we do in America. He is a flaming gay guy who is extremely funny. Watch him.

I am busy working on my xmas gifts, am making ballband dishcloths for those little gifts you have to give a few people in your life.

Happy Halloween and Ravelry

As far as I am concerned we should celebrate Halloween all month long, it is my favorite day of the year, not much of a Christmas person but Halloween is something I can get into. How could you not love a day of dressing like someone you want to be and eating candy, it does not get any better than that. I am temporarily at another office of ours in the caves, yes Halloween, bats, and caves. I do have HALLWN as my car tag. Halloween is also my parents wedding anniversary, 53 years.

I keep hearing all about Ravelry on three of my yahoo groups, so last Thursday I signed up to join, something else to take away from my knitting time.

Yarn Harlot

The Yarn Harlot is coming, the Yarn Harlot is coming, the Yarn Harlot is coming. Ok she will be 3 hours away but I have to go see her. My mom does not knit but she is coming too cos she needs a little one day trip out of the house. Let's see I have to get my copy of Cast Off, I know where it is with my other YH books, my latest modular knitted socks, and my Karen's gloves cos we need to get her into the KAL. Tickets are free and this is on Sunday so ..... I am soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Where did my post go from yesterday?

I just wrote some drivel yesterday and it is not showing as being posted but when i go to edit posts there it is, hmmmm something is wonky.

The kite is still in the tree and the eggs were gone when I got back from LA.

I saw most of the eclipse this morning on the way to work, almost a Halloween sky with it, too cool. Let's see if this gets posted.

Where has August Gone?

Wasn't it just August 1? Where has the year gone to, it is just whizzing by so fast I can't even keep up anymore. I got to go home for a week compliments of my job, of course besides having a good work week, I hit Venice Beach, I think we were the freaks cos we were normal; my Dodgers won the game in the 7th inning-they don't play here so I can only watch them on TV, and I spent some time with 2 of my cousins. All in all it was a good trip, the weather was great and I was not here at work.

I been knitting ballbands for xmas presents and found the 12 oz skeins of bernat xmas yarn at Joann's this weekend so bought one of each color and will make an xmas dishcloth for each gift as well.

Will post some picures later this week.

DDOS Exchange

I sent out my box today finally after staring at it for a week and when I got home there was my box, boy did I ever get spoiled. The orange dishcloth is my own pattern and the blue one is a pansy, my knittee's collectible. I sent her some blue/yellow/white yarn, some hot chocolate and tea, a pansy tea bag holder, a knitted bag with chocolate soap, and some M&M calendars for 2008. Hope she likes them.
The one with the ballband cloth is my box I got today, I got SPOILED. I got a yellow/blue ballband cloth, and a blue sailboat cloth. The ballband is one of my favs, how can you go wrong with it. Dark chocolate, pink lemonade, pina colada soap, some yarn to make more dishcloths, a lighted fan to use while it is in the 100's the next two weeks, animal crackers and a pattern book to make some more dishcloths. I LOVE IT<>

NY Yankees

My father is 83 and has been a huge Yankees fan since he was 10, so he has all his wearable stuff but not a dishcloth so here it is. I can not tell you where I got the pattern from, just it made his day because when we went to the game the Yankees lost to the stinking Royals, how humiliating. I am a Dodgers fan being born in LA, so next week I get to go home and see my team play. Hope they win.

Goodbye Harry, Hermione, and Ron

I was telling a friend of mine today that I feel like it is over. How many years have we waited for the next book, the next movie, etc to wander the halls of Hogwarts? He said he and his wife thought maybe they should actually see a movie or read one of the books so they knew what the world was talking about. I told him they must be the only people who have not experienced Harry Potter, the boy with the scar. I dont know that I want to see movie 5 even though it was my fav book or the other two except the magic scenes where Harry does battle. My niece is so much like Hermione, smart, a good person, totally into her books, etc.

I did not like the way she ended this book, just seemed so wrong and out of place, with lots of questions unanswered, who is running Hogwarts, what is Harry doing, etc. etc. etc. Ron and Hermione, what an odd pair dont know that I would have put them together but... I did not write the books. I also did not like that she killed Hedwig, how can you kill a pet, well ok killing Nargina was fine but then was Voldemort's pet really a pet?

I do have the Charmed Knits book and have marked several things I want to make out of there, so maybe I will keep the magic alive a little longer with my knitting.

PS The Yarn harlot will be close by in September so I hope to get a chance to go see her.

The kite is still in the tree.

Monster Crochet

If you have not visited this blog you need to when you are truly bored and really have an hour or so. In all reality this person is extremely talented because to create these pieces takes some major talent. www.monstercrochet.blogspot.com is a compilation of such things as slices of bacon, slabs of raw meat, a cheeseburger, olive loaf shawl, turkey purse, etc etc etc. I visit it often to see what she comes up with next. While most things I would never attempt to do even though the patterns are there there are some cool things that i printed off such as the bloody finger stumps for my Halloween decorating. I can see some uses for her stuff, like the eyeballs which my mom hates again for Halloween decorating. I was thinking of making my buddy McPhee some of the fingers cos he does Halloween more than I do, imagine that.

PS Someone please take the kite out of the tree.

9 days til the last Harry Potter book comes out. Do you have yours reserved. I do have the Harry Potter knitting book, it is great, too many cool things in there I have to knit, when do I have time? Too bad I have to work to support my addiction, I mean my hobby.

Subversive Cross Stitch

So today I noticed in the FYI section of my paper there is an article titled Naughty Knotty. It is about naughty knitting. Books such as Dominitrix and Stitch and Bitch and others are mentioned. It is really advertisement for a play in a city about an hour away "Her Knitted Burlesque Review." All the costumes are knitted right down to the G-strings. Apparently Nikol Lohr who wrote Naughty Needles lives in the city. Anyway the point of this is on page 4 of the continued article there is the infamous Bite Me cross stitch from Subversive Cross Stitch, I have the book and the calendar cos that is my saying at work. This website is not for the faint of words because the "F" word is tossed around like no one would be offended. I find most of her patterns something I would definitley find a use for. Anyway it is too cool that such a liberal pansy paper would write a large article such as this. BTW they list this book and the Dominitrix as more kinky craft books.

Back to the comics, must see what bucky cat is up to.

Tote Exhange IV

Here is the tote I made, it did not work out right so i redid it. The yarn is Plymouth Tweed, it felted soft but not very much. I made an eye glass case to go withit and filled it with some other goodies. I hope she likes it. I am so glad to be done with this.

BTW the kite is still in the tree.

License To Wed

I love Robin Williams, I don't care what he is doing, he is so funny and can you imagine how his brain works? It makes mine hurt to think bout it. I saw the movie, I loved it and it is funny. The kid that plays his mentee is great, looks just like one of the guys I work with.

Hope everyone had a great 4th, being allergic to sulfur stuff I can't sit outside and watch the fireworks but I am privileged to see them from about every window in my house.

I woke up on the 5th to find someone sleeping in their car outside my living room window. Freaked me out cos I did not know if he was alseep or dead. Called the cops, he was just asleep, I DO NOT live in a neighborhood where you sleep in your car.

The dreaded Tote IV bag is finally done, sure did not turn out like it was supposed to but I would carry it so I am sending it in the mail this afternoon. I will post pics this evening when I get home.

Now on to my DDS exchange.

I am addicted

Dear GW: I figure I can call you that since you are the President and I work for the FAA, technically you are my boss through a bunch of other bosses. Anyway I write to you today to tell you that instead of some of the stupid laws you are working on you need to consider making knitting a legal addiction. As I was driving to work today the DJ's were interviewing a dishwasher from Sweden. His government has dictated he is legally addicted to heavy metal music. They pay him 20% of his salary (omg the yarn I could buy with that much money each month), he gets his birthday and Ozzie's birthday off (I would settle for my birthday and Karen's birthday off), he gets to listen to his music at work as loud as he wants. I will settle for 15 minutes/hour to knit. They asked him what happens if he does not get to listen to his music, he said he gets aggressive. Well I am telling you right now if I dont get to knit at work I may stab one of these engineers with my metals, don't want blood on my bamboos. I promise to work real hard the other 45 minutes of each hour.Your Employee

ITE IV

I got my bag felted, did not felt as much as I wanted but I am going to finish it this weekend. My spoilee likes polar bears, so I knitted her a white polar bear dishcloth in a soft cotton so she can use it as a washcloth. Did not find any sea turtle stuff yet and it is too hot to mail chocolate so will have to see what I can find that is chocolate but won't melt. I used to find pretty tape measures at Joann's cos everyone needs a pretty tape measure in their purse but have not found any yet, still have stores to check though. I am making a kleenex holder and will find some other "purse" things to put in. I need to finish it this weekend and get it mailed as I have another purse to make for a 55 birthday in July. So here is a picture of my supplies, stay tuned for the finished tote. The yarn is Plymouth Tweed which felts very soft but not a lot cos I put this through 5 times, oh well, I will make it work, that is why we knit isnt to put our special touch on projects. I got the lining which you cant see and two coordinating fabrics. I got a light lining cos there is nothing worse than looking in a dark purse to find something. Well I need to get busy on work, darn it.

Please Don't Spit on my Car

I was driving to work and I will be darned if two guys did not lean out and spit. That is so gross, I made sure when I got to work I did not have chew on my car. I also saw a guy knitting while waiting for the bus, very heavy yarn, dude too hot to knit with heavy yarn, get some sock yarn and keep it cool.

Why do guys spit? Women use a kleenex, but guys have to be gross.

The kite is still in the tree, wonder how long it will stay.

We have 3 baby pigeons across the way, they are so cute trying to learn to fly.

Please remember if you pull up beside a Black Murano with HALLWN on the tag, DONT SPIT ON ME!

Surf's Up

Don't waste your time and money seeing this movie. A penguin surfing animated movie with a stoned chicken and a Jerry Garcia has been surfer. My niece and a friend at work are penguin-holics but I hope they don't go see this one.

I felted my purse for my spoilee, it did felt soft but not as much as I wanted, so I was gonna start over but nothing floated my boat so I am gonna take a step back and go forward with another tactic on this purse. Will post pics on the ITE blog.

I started reading Knitting by Anne Bartlett today. It is kind of hard to get into but reads fast and is a small book.

I worked in the garden the past two weekends and I see the Poison Ivy foundme, I figure I should be itch free about the 4th of July.

PEEPS

Ok no one I know but my niece, bless her, loves PEEPS. I just finished reading the Yarn Harlot's latest book, Casts Off, It is hilarious and realized I needed some sugar to get me through 4 more hours of work. What, one box of purple bunnies left, til omg HALLOWEEN< I cant be expected to ration my peeps. I wonder which store might still have left over PEEPS. I know what I will be doing this weekend, searching for PEEPS.

My Spoilee

I just finished reading the blog of my spoilee. I think the bag I chose to make her will work out just fine. I see she has a bunny and a dog, looks like a black lab, i had one once, she was a wonderful dog, had her 15 years til she got cancer, i still miss her.

She likes dark chocolate but it may be too warm to send chocolate and swedish fish, what the heck are swedish fish?

Polar bears and sea turtles, hmmmm will have to look into that.

I keep reading blogs that have 100 things about me, perhaps I shall do that to see what I come up with that, may be fun and a reality check as well.

This is my Idea of Summer

The past couple of weeks have been low 60's at night, high 70's in the day, window open, attic fan on weather. I love it, no a/c bills or wondering if it is too hot upstairs to sleep. Fresh air in the house, kitties heads hanging out the windows breathing in the fresh air. I know it is the midwest and it won't last long but rarely anymore do we have a chance to have the windows open for more than a couple hours before we switch from heat directly to a/c.
I have been corresponding with my ITE pal but have not heard from the one I am knitting for, must check into that.

I almost have my purse knitted for ITE, need to get it felted, lined, and finish it and figure out what else I am adding to it.

BTW the movie Mr Brooks is great, a little gory but then it is that kind of movie and who doesn't like Kevin Costner in a tux? Great movie, one I would watch again. Whoever wrote this movie has a twisted mind but very carefully thought out everything.

I have my Exchange Partner to Knit for

I have my person to knit for, Jen, emailed her before lunch but not have heard back from her yet, I know patience is not a suit of mine at all, my genes do not have patient DNA in them at all. I have a few bags in mind but dont want to make her something she wont use. I have not heard from the person knitting for me.

Can you believe May is over, it has finally stopped raining for today, more on the way tomorrow, I need to mow.

The kite is still in the tree, will my 40' ladder in the middle of the street be a nuisance while I try to take it down. Too bad my niece is not here I would make her climb the tree and remove it, it is just bugging me something awful.

Since I dont work Fridays, my weekend is 1.5 hours away, hootie hoo.

Tote Exchange IV

I am anxiously awaiting my person to knit for. I have only participated in one exchange and that was dishcloth, so atote is way more exciting and challenging. Purses are so personal, I never bought a purse as a present cos to me they are like a fingerprint, each person has their own unique wants and wishes in a purse. But I will give it my best try. I have about half dozen books and magazines with purses/totes marked to see what strikes my person's fancy. Have you seen the new Harry Potter knit book, the totes for Mrs Weasely and Hermione are so cool. And then there is AlterKnits and Yarn Cocktail and on and on, please stop the new patterns, I can't knit that fast.

I was supposed to get my person last night and I checked my bulk folder and did not see anything unless I did not recognize and deleted it. I will wait til this evening to see.

The baby squirrels are out, last night the cutie was sitting in the bird seed bowl picking out the sunflower seeds. My squirrels are gray with a reddish/brown around the gray part and a white belly, I know many people dont like them but Ifeed them cos they are so cute. I also have 2 stray cats, LIttle Bit (4-had him since he was born, but cant get within 5 feet or he runs) and Skittels, (1-he runs when I look at him out the kitchen window), they get dry cheap cat food and Little Bit gets cooked chicken when I see him, no he is not spoiled. I also have possums and racoons and birds, so quite a little zoo I have.

Well I have to go to a meeting as I am work.

OTN, a pair of Halloween gloves I designed myself, see an earlier post and the mitered square from Mason Dixon, they are my serious projects now, too many others to list or remember, just look around my house at my bags.

No More Idol for the year

I watched Idol last night cos I knew Taylor Hicks was singing and I was even more joyed when Melinda sang as well. I cant stand hula boy and why did they let him stink up that song, one of my favs and Carrie Underwood, ick, I am sick of her and I dont like Kelly Clarkson either. I wish they had invited the #2's back like Diana and BO and Kat. OH well, I am glad Jordin won if Melinda couldn't and that crap Blake did with Doug E Fresh, egads I just don't care for that at all.

The eggs and nest across the street appear to be gone, dont know what happened to them overnight. OH well they way they have been going at it there should be more eggs soon.

The eggs are gone

I was so upset about losing Melinda that I forgot to post the eggs are gone, don't know if they fell off the ledge, someone destroyed them or what? Anyway the eggs are gone and maybe she moved them? I will have to scope this out.

No More Idol for me

I can't believe Melinda went home last night. She was a true professional and a much better singer than Blake. Oh well she will get offers and be allowed to choose what she wants. I am not watching next week, I just can't. I think Idol is getting worse and it is time to go now. I see Crossing Jordan is not being renewed, another one of my favs leaving, pretty soon other than Law and Order shows there will be nothing left, good thing I have DIY and the old movie channels, and the food network and hgtv.

We're gonna have babies soon

I sit across from an Insurance company that used to be a public library, beautiful building. The pigeons roost on the patio are on the second floor outside my window. Yesterday afternoon I noticed 2 eggs in a very skimpy nest. I of course looked up and they hatch in 15 days and leave the nest after a month, so I have never seen baby pigeons before so I hope I get the chance to see them, will keep you all posted.

Remember the kite, it is still in the tree. The kite is still in good shape and must really be twisted in there good cos we have had some wind that should have removed it. I wonder how long the kite will last.

Happy Birthday Matt

Today is my little brother's 49th birthday. Being 3 years older than he is I always tell him he is really older cos he looks it and he has an almost 17 year old. Since I have furballs and no human kids I tell him he has to be older than me. Somehow he is not buying it.

Ok Bye Lakisha, I still thought when she really tried she had a beautiful voice. I don't think those who voted for her will vote for Blake. I hope it comes down to Melinda/Jordin, even though I am partial to Doolittle, they are both great and deserve to win. Can't they make it a tie?

I better get busy at work, today I have to clean off my desk, I know not what lurks on it besides the dust bunnies.

Idol

Ok tonight I am sure Lakisha will go but Blake needs to. His sound effects are not for every song and he trashed a Bon Jovi song last week and two Barry Gibb songs last night. He basically sucked. My Melinda did ok on her first one and Jordin took the first round. Melinda came back and took the second round while Jordin kind of botched a Barb Streisand song. I still think Blake may come in and win this year cos he has a HUGE following. At least hula boy is gone.

My gloves

Ok I finally decided if I was gonna have a blog I need to keep it updated so here are pictures of my gloves. The red ones are for my mom--Happy Mother's Day. The one lone Halloween glove is my own design of a sorts and the other hand has a spider on the back of the hand.

Someone Smack Me!

I just signed up for the Tote International Exchange. I do NOT need another knitting project. But it is a tote and I love bags. I got my dishcloth done for my exchange and it will go in the mail this weekend.

I blocked my gloves for my mom and she gets them on Sunday for Mother's Day. I know wool gloves in May but then she has them for this coming Fall/Winter instead of waiting for Christmas. They came out so nice and soft after blocking them, and I used a bit of my lingerie flakes for softening and making them smell like talcum. I am on my second Halloween glove, I need to get a few things done so I can get it done and blocked then I actually need to make myself a pair of Karen's gloves. Will post pictures when I get home.

Every night I drive by this tree that has had a kite in it for over a month now, will the fire department take a kite out of a tree. At first it put a smile on my face now it is just annoying. Whoever owns the kite, take it down.

Finally the rains have stopped, I was seriously thinking about knitting an ark but dont think it would hold the water out so I am taking twigs and making me one for me and the cats and how much knitting can i get on the raft with me and 4 cats? Perhaps I should take socks cos they take awhile and are small and portable.

I dont want to be at work, I just want to depart the site permanently, honestly working here is a challenge to come in every day and stay, the work is NOT challenging. Only 1333 calendar days (for those who dont want to do the math-that is 12/31/2010).

We are down to the final 4 for Idol, Lakisha go home this evening. While I like her I am a Melinda/Jordin fan. Blake is ok but how of his bee bop noise stuff can one take, I dont think it is a money making venture.

Has anyone seen if Journey is touring this year, I have seen nothing, my fav band, ok my second fav band, The Who is my fav and I got to see Roger Daltrey in February, best concert ever, at 62 he still is an outstanding performer.

I am rambling cos I dont want to be here and I will be off now to work on my Vacation Bible School stuff as we start June 4.

My Blog is BORING

I spend so much time reading other cool blogs like the Yarn Harlot and Mason Dixon and a ton of others, I forget to post to my own. I do post quite a bit on the glove kal i am in but other than that i just read and look for cool stuff. It is May 2 already, where has the year gone? I am so glad hula boy is off Idol, he was a real jerk, making a mockery of the whole thing. He has had his 15 minutes of fame, GO AWAY! Jordin did not do so well last night but I think she will be ok. My girl Melinda, she is so cool, she just gets blown away that people think she is great. I have my mom's Mason Dixon Nina Shawl done that I need to post pics for and another shawl from Knit Picks that I need to post and my gloves, ok I need to make time once a week to post and picture to my own blog. Is it too late to make a New Year's Resolution?

Spring Tulips

I have been posting a LOT on the glove kal but not here. As I drove to the Plaza to get more yarn for my glove kal I noticed the bunnies and easter egg color tulips, purple, yellow, pink, white, so beautiful. I love bulb flowers but once they are gone it is a year til they come back. The Plaza is cool mostly at Easter and Christmas. The air is clean today, and clear, it has been raining for 2 weeks. It is very cold and windy and winter is on its way back. So if you are in the mind for some seriously gorgeous gloves check out the glove kal for April, Karen's gloves. I am already designing my pair for Halloween.

Yarn for the gloves

SHHHHH, dont tell anyone here I am bidding on several batches of sock yarn on ebay. I found the most beautiful stuff I may have to use for my gloves. Sock yarn-Melody is the brand and The Colony based in Dallas is the company. I have 5 bids right now, most batches come in 10 balls anywhere from 110-220 yards/ball. I am bidding $30 right now and will probably not pay more than that for them. I have bought yarn from them before, it is so soft, have not worked it up yet but I do have plans for what I have bought. there are 5 pages out there for sale on ebay, so take a look. I am in no way affliated with them, just think they have beautiful yarn for a very decent price. If i get what I am bidding on I will have 14520 yards for $150. Not bad.

Idol

Ok is Idol getting worse every year or am I just tired of it already. The contestants this year just dont do much for me. I do like Lakisha and Doolittle a lot and the 17 year old girl, the guys are ok, I liked Rudy and he is gone already. After this week they will get serious and we will see who is left.

Is it April 15th yet?

I keep checking glovekal.blogspot.com cos we now have 17 knitters signed up to do those amazing gloves. I have one color picked out but cant find the right second color, well I do have a month to scour the LYS's. I need to take some pics and get them on here of things I have accomplished, but it cuts into my knitting time.

Bjork, it wont seem to knit itself and go away, it keeps staring at me, maybe I need to ban it to the basement and put it in a corner somewhere so when someone finds my stash after I am dead maybe they will finish it for me.

I wish.

BORING BJORK

BORING BJORK
So I met Cathy on Friday and took her on a whirlwind tour of my fav Urban Arts and Crafts, The Studio, and Knit n Stitch and then back to the airport for her to catch her flight. She and I are about as far along on the BORING BJORK. It is straight knitting of one color for 19" front and back. HELP! Since this coming Sunday is the Super Bowl and Knittin Gritty has a knitathon on I am gonna force myself to work on this stupid swan. And to treat myself for working on this the next kal I join will be a beautiful glove/hat set from Karen at The Studio. You should see the gloves, breathtaking. I wish I could just sit and design and knit. I am so jealous.

Where has the time gone?

I realized the other day I had not posted so this year, 2007 I am going to use this as my knitting journal and take pictures of all I create and post it here. I was really signing in to go the Bork KAL, aka s'wanderful purse by Nikki Epstein.

Back in a day or so.
