I Haz Yarn

I finally got to take a class on spinning. I have not felt that awkward in a long time but I had a blast. The teacher was great and very patient and full of lots of good information. This is the yarn I made, it took me 2 hours but I have yarn. I have always admired people who say I spun up some yarn for a new sweater I want to make and I am like wow. So someday I will be one of those people. The teacher gave me some chocolate brown, and the two colors here, red and pink to play with and I am thinking a 3 ply of the three colors would make some bright yarn. While I dont have enough to make anything, it will sit in a bowl as my first yarn ever. I have 2 books I have read and there is a lot to spinning, lots of tools and accesories you need. So I will research what all is needing especially for plying and see what I can put together. Who knows I may have that sweater yarn soon.

WOW

The camera operators at the eagle nest got some great pictures of one of the parents.

The Arrogance

http://weaselzippers.us/2012/06/22/obama-asks-people-getting-married-to-forgo-gifts-ask-guests-to-donate-to-his-campaign-instead/ You really do need to sit down when your read this and dont' have anything in your mouth because it will come spitting out. Seriously how arrogant, narcissistic, and full of crap can Obama get? This is just unbelievable. Gaul comes to mind along with a few other words I won't put here. Just when I think I can't believe how much worse it can get they go and do this. BTW did you hear big butt will be going on her next vacay to the opening of the Olympics in London. She is going in hopes she can get those chubby little kids she preaches at daily to exercise like the athletes in the Olympics. Again gaul, arrogance, narcissistic, etc comes to mind. When you put down the fries big butt America might actually think you might have a point.

Camp Loopy 2012 2nd Month

Project 2 starts on the 27th. I have been eyeing Summitt from Knitty since it came out but thought what a lot of work. Well I have finally succumbed to it. We were to choose a yarn with the color of our flag and it has to be at least 800 yards. I chose Prussian Blue from Julie Spins because it reminds me of deep ocean water. Since the flag often waves and it has blue I think Summit is wavy as well as the blue water that has waves so a perfect fit. Let's hope it does not get the better of me. When I got my box look what was on it:

I Haz a Sad

The cams on the Decorah Eagle nest will be shut down on the 30th at 8pm, I need to make myself a reminder as I will be at Roller Derby. The eaglets have fledged and we hardly see them anymore. Mom is sitting on the Y in the cottonwood at the moment. I wonder if she is thinking about losing her babies, or as animals do they even grieve. I know I will be crying wondering where they are and if they are safe and knowing I will never see them again. I have watched them since they started pipping and were hatched about 12 weeks ago. It has been a true miracle to watch this event and I know I will be back in November when the cameras are turned back on, the courting starts and the eggs are laid and we do this all over again. Thanks to the Raptor Resource Project for giving millions of us across the world this magnificent view of nature and learning more than I could ever imagine about eagles. Be safe little ones, and may God watch over you. I will miss you.

Put Your Lipstick On

This was posted on Facebook this morning from Knitting Daily. Oh how times have changed. I wonder if my grandmother who sewed for a living would sew like this at home.

Root Beer Floats

The popsicle of the week is Root Beer Floats. You need a can or bottle of root beer, it has be A&W and ice cold but FLAT. Make sure the root beer is flat you don't want foam or fizz. Take a pint of ice cream and spoon it in the molds but don't pack it. You want room for the root beer to fall down around the mold. SO take and place ice cream in the mold and pour the root beer in til the top. Freeze, simple as that. I think orange soda with vanilla ice cream would be like a dreamsicle, I am thinking cream soda and butter pecan would be good and Dr Pepper and chocolate ice cream. The possibilites are endless.

Hello, Look at Me

Groucho thinks you should pet her all day long and when she wants you to especially pay attention she hurls herself on the floor with her belly exposed because afterall it needs a belly rub and you have nothing better to do. She will often run ahead of me, throw herself on the floor and put her feet in the air with belly exposed and if you dont rub her belly she will follow you til you do. I think she is a dog.

Father's Day Sock 2012

My dad's socks, the yarn is a cotton, nylon, wool blend. I forget what the yarn company is, it was in my stash and on clearance.

Prayer Shawl

My massage therapist is going through some serious growing pains with her oldest son. I figured she could use a prayer shawl, so I went through my stash and found this yarn. It is Caron Simply Soft Brites made in 2004, the colorway is Papaya. I used the Granny Shawl pattern and crocheted it til there was only one cluster left. I used 6 skeins.

Hummingbird Boneyard

So I finished my first month's project for Camp Loopy. This is a yarn that is very soft and will be very warm but the way the color is dyed, it looks much prettier in a skein than knitted up. However it will be warm this winter. The pattern is Boneyard Shawl by Stephen West. I used 4 skeins.

Strawberry kiwi

This weeks popsicles are Strawberry kiwi. The recipe was on TV but I modified it a bit. I cut up a pound of strawberries, 3 kiwi that were very ripe, 2 c nonfat plain yogure, 1/2 c or so of sugar and 2 t vanilla. I put it in a blender and then froze it. They are much better than last weeks and they could use a tad more sugar, but it made about enough for 14 pops. Yummy. Congratulations to Wisconsin, you give me hope that we can take back the country from those who want to destroy it and we just might win in November and send them packing.
