Show Your Sticks

June 10th is Show Your Sticks Day. This is the 2nd annual World Wide Knit in Public Day! For more details go to www.wwkipday.com. The map will be updated June 1 as to where the public knitting cities are and what is going on in that city.

I am anxiously awaiting my one skein secret pal. I started working on my project that I will be sending that individual this weekend.

I have a knitting class that afternoon so maybe I can talk the teacher into allowing us to knit outside. If you dont have a group in your city go somewhere public and just knit, I bet you have some people come up and watch you, join you, or are just curious. And if they think you are weird, they just don't get it.

Soul Kat

Finally my Idol won. However I really liked Kat as well, so I have decided to design a new TEE, Soul Kat.
I also heard from one skein secret pal. Out of 700 I was one of the lucky 10 that they lost their application so I re-applied yesterday so am awaiting my pal.
Yesterday I signed up for some new knitting classes at my fav LYS Urban Arts and Crafts (UAC). One of the classes I am taking is kitty kate at www.knitty.com. I can not wait to get started on her, now what colors do i want her. I also had to buy some yarn cos they had the cutest purse pattern free with yarn purchase. So since Louis Harding yarns are so delicious, I bought a red/pink/lime and gold/purple yarn to make a spring and fall purse.
Perhaps this weekend I can post some pics of my knitting projects that are actually finished. BTW if you have not seen the Noni purses and flowers you must do the barrel bag, too much fun doing the flowers and goes very fast.

Taylor Hicks

This is not knitting related, but I have to plug my fav Idol, Taylor. I seem to always like the ones that come in second, Diana, Bo, so hope this does not jinx Taylor.

I did try to get into the one skein secret pal. I applied, never got a response, sent them an email telling them I never got anything from them and still have not heard from them. Does not make me happy and does not bode well with me on their responding to people.

I'm Home

I returned from my cruise a little over a week ago. I did manage to get some knitting done. I finished a Spice colored clutch from Lamb's Pride bulky, need to felt it and put buttons on. I also almost completed my Noni barrel bag, I call it. It is Cascade 220 fushcia and navy, made the large flower to put on it and i-cord straps. It is drying as I write. Will have to figure out how to add pictures and start putting my creations on it. I am still waiting for my secret pal, so who knows where that email may have gone.

Going on a Sea Cruise

I leave on Saturday for a cruise to Alaska, forget Alaska, Jacque Torres is the featured chef and can you think of a better reason to go on a cruise than to go with Mr Chocolate. I am taking 3 knitting projects, two different purse patterns which require some knitting skills so should take some of that airport time and immigration line time up. I will be back on May 14 so if my One Skein Secret Pal is looking for me, I will be gone. I do however know the yarn I am going to use for my projects and the yarn I am sending. One of my favorite all time stores is Urban Arts and Crafts here in the city (in fact I can walk there from work and often do at lunch). Karen, the owner, has some yummy summer colors in the Laura Harding yarns, dont you just love her patternbooks and yarn? I wish I would win the lottery and buy enough of each color to make something. Anyway no more rambling from me. I know when I get back I need to start posting some pics of my knitting projects. So for now Bon Voyage to me. Post when I get back.

I Had to Buy Yarn

I walked down to Urban Arts and Crafts to purchase some yarn for my cruise. While I never really have time to knit on the ship, I do have tons of time in the airport. Finding just the right project to take on trips takes me much longer than packing. I found three purse patterns, so I walked down and bought the yarn. Of course she has so many spring colors there that I now have to go home and find some patterns and go buy some spring yarn. And then to top it off she had yarn marked down to 40% so you have to buy it, right? I had some class credits so I ended up getting yarn for 4 purses for less than half price. All in all a great lunch and two miles of exercise with the walk back uphill all the way for real. Now to find the right knitting bag to carry my projects in. I think perhaps the Yarn Ho bag will be large enough.

Why I Have to Have a Blog

I am not one for putting my personal life that no one cares about out there for everyone else to read, but... I want to join the One Skein Secret Pals Exchange so I had to create a blog or website. I think a blog is much easier since I already took a create a website course. So here is my first blog page to get started. Now that I have this created I can fill out my form. In case you want to join this and are knitterly obsessed like me check out www.oneskein.com/secretpal.asp. It will guide you in signing up and tell you exactly what you need.
