Camp Loopy 2012 Project 3

When I was in Junior High and High School I had a poncho that was brown, orange, yellow and brown, it was not as bad as it sounds. I wore it to death and it was very warm. I have always liked ponchos so when I needed a project for my 3rd month at Camp Loopy I looked for a poncho pattern. You have to use 2 colors, at least 500 yards and a pattern you have not made before. I know knitting wool and winter garments when it is 100 out is kind of crazy but then you have never camped at Camp Loopy before. BTW Hermione was trying to see what was in the box that made mommy squee with delight. She of course is too big for the box but nonetheless she tried to get into it.

Blue Swiss

My Camp Loopy Project 2 is finally all done, blocked and dry. I will definitely use the yarn again but this project was a bit too I dont know the right words, well I wont knit it again. The pattern was great to follow, it was an easy knit to memmorize but the pattern drove me nuts because of the tediousness or boringness or I dont know what. BUT don't let me keep you from trying it. It just wasn't for me.

Your Face

http://www.eruptingmind.com/chinese-face-map/ This is quite an article to read about your body and how everything connects. It is quite a lengthy read but certainly tells a lot. I know that when I get my monthly massage my therapist hits a spot on my feet and it goes all the way up. This reminds me of the exhibit I went to that had taken the human body and sliced it up like a ham, and showed all that is inside and how it interacts. So cool. Take a look and see what is going on with you.

TV

No not television, Turkey Vultures. Since I can't watch my eagles, I have turned over to watch the TV's. I have to say they are cute little buzzballs but so boring. There are 2 of them about 3 weeks old. They live in the loft of an un-used barn. There is straw on the floor and today they got out of their bordered in nest. I dont think the parents are very good parents as they leave them alone except for every once in awhile they will come in and feed, and they regurgitate, that is so gross. So I will watch them but they are not a match for the eagles. But since I can't see the eagle cam until November, I will have to do with TV.

Fudgesicles

I love fudgesicles, a sweet creamy chocolate on a hot day, there is nothing better. So this week's pops are like fudgesicles. Half and half, brown sugar, a touch of cayenne, and baking chocolate melted. This batch did not make much as the others make over a dozen so it takes me awhile to eat them one a day. I can't wait til tomorrow when they will be ready. I do like a touch of heat in my cocoa and bet these are good.

It's in the Bible

An online friend posted that her mom said in her Bible there was a commandment to knit at the back, but then she said it was in her handwriting so maybe not: but check out Proverbs 31: Verse 13: She seeks out wool and flax and works with willing hands to develop it. and Verse 19: She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. Looks like to me God wants me to knit. So I best get busy. See mom God is telling me to seek out wool and knit.

More Information on D12

Apparently D12 spread her wings on top of the white barn on the property where she was born and hit the wires. She was retrieved by Bob, whom I am sure is having a really rough day as he is very active in the study of Eagles. My heart breaks for him having to do this and my prayers and thoughts are with him. I wondered if they would bury her there on the property but they can't. All eagles go here: http://www.fws.gov/le/Natives/EagleRepository.htm. http://thegazette.com/2012/07/03/decorah-eaglet-born-in-2012-found-electrocuted. She will be taken care of and maybe she will be of some use in a Native American ceremony or something else. Godspeed D12, we will miss you.

D12

Today we learned that this magnificent creature was killed Sunday morning. I know nature is nature but... I watched her from the time she was hatched to the time when she fledged and now she is gone. She was found by the power company and had been electrocuted. It sucks. I feel like I have lost one of my own pets. While she had fledged she was still around the nest for awhile learning to fish and hunt and eventually leave on her own to build herself a full life. This was the first born this year to mom and dad along with two others. This one was a handful, always in trouble, always first in line to eat and bullying the other two. I know we all have a certain number of days here on earth but honestly it should not have been her time. Anyway soar with the eagles who have gone before you and you are in God's hands now. You will be missed.
