Pink Slipper Project
I have signed up for a new charity this year. They do have a facebook page. The group makes slippers for domestic abuse shelters across the US. You pledge to make so many slippers of different sizes and now they are accepting washcloths. I have pledged 2 so far, sent off my boxes last week. I am working on my third. If you have lots of yarn laying around that you are not sure what to do with, check them out and see if you want to join us. While a pair of slippers may not seem like much, remember some of these people leave their home with nothing, a pair of slippers is a start. It also lets them know someone out there cares. As I make each item I ask God to watch over them. I will post pictures later.
They're Here
The wind is howling, it is bitter cold, below zero and mom laid her second egg a few hours ago. I got to watch her. It was fantastic. What am I talking about, the Decorah Eagles have the 2nd egg. The first one was laid Sunday evening and tonight we have #2. Will there be a third, if so tune in Saturday evening. Let the season begin. BTW don't bother me til July when they fledge cos I don't want to miss a minute of this excitement.

Snow, Snow, and More Snow
January was bitter cold but not much snow. The snow we are getting this year is powdery, no moisture which we really need. We had 3" over the weekend and another 8" yesterday on top of that. The problem living here is we can go a week with no sun and thus no melting. the city in their stupidity plowed the cul de sac leaving several neighbors stuck in their drives. I imagine today will be spent helping them dig out, I got my long johns, I'm ready.
I have been cleaning like a fool in my basement and the finished part is done, and the heater room is half done, so my goal of getting it done this winter is almost done. I have taken 3 car loads full of stuff for mom's church garage sale, so it is going to be put to good use.
This morning the little birds are out, 8 goldfinches and several house finches and juncos, I love the little birds.
I also got some lap robes done and made myself an carryall for my cross stich to put it away at night out of prying little paws. This bottle of dish soap has a sweater on.
