Hey, Where Did You Come From?

I was talking to my mom on the phone and happened to look out the window by the a/c, and notice red roses. I don't have a red rose bush and certainly not where this one is. I have a yellow rose bush that is still there and has been since I moved in almost 18 years ago. I have no idea where this came from but it is pretty. My petunias are filling in, a pretty Iris colored bloom and my climbing roses are blooming. My bleeding heart has outgrown it's area and my salvia are happy happy happy. I finished my June table runner.

Spring is Here?

Seems anymore winter starts in October and ends in May. Last week the heater was on and we set 2 records lows and this week the air is on and we may set a heat record this week. The flowers are blooming and growing and my lizard is huge, isn't he cute? Some of these are storm clouds and sunsets. My honeysuckle needs a good haircut. The hat is the parseltongue Harry Potter hat from Tiny Owl Knits, easy knit. My niece requested it for her birthday, a quick fun knit, try it. I have planted tomatoes, my sweet potato and some herbs and that will be my garden for this year. I am bringing in the tomatoes every night so the deer and raccoon don't get my crop this year.

The Yarn Whisperer

I purchased this book because I loved Clara's segments on Knitting Daily, get her monthly Knitting Review, I had heard good things abut the book, and I knit. I did not really know what to expect but I find I can't put it down. There is a chapter on bobbles. I had to laugh because I hate to knit them and not sure where they are really appropriate but I have learned to make a good bobble (is there such a thing) you have to go down several needle sizes to make them tight and pop up. She talks about steeking, fair isle, duplicate stitch, etc. Each type of knitting is like a step in your life. I have to say I agree after reading this book. I love her style of writing and I find myself picturing several chapters in my head. This book mixes her life from a child to present day and how knitting has woven itself into her life. If you knit find yourself a copy and read it, but be prepared to take a day or two to read it in one setting. Clara, I miss you on Knitting Daily. Happy Easter

Finallly Spring has arrived and everything is growing again. The trees are budding out, the bulbs are blooming, the grass is green and the birds greet the morning with song. The neighbor kids decorated their driveway, guess they thought the Easter Bunny might not find them.

My feral tom turned 13 last month, while he does not come up to eat every day, he is showing his age, but he is still around. Various pictures of the kids as well. Bucky, my baby turns 10 today, all my girls are in the double digits now.

Decorah Eagles

I know I have not posted about the eagles but all 3 are here and growing by the hour. Every time mom gets up to feed them I swear they have grown. D18 and D19 are getting the gray which means the feathers are coming in and D20 is still small enough to know who he is. They are so cute and the variety of food brought in by dad is amazing. The other day he brought in a huge fish and most of the fish brought are so fresh mom has to stab them to keep them from flapping off the nest. They are so much fun and addictive to watch. Welcome D18

This morning at 9:18am D18 became official. We have seen peaks at the new eaglet mom and dad have brought into the world. If you are not watching the Decorah Eagles, get there now, the fun begins til end of June. You will become addicted. Now we wait for D19 and D20 to hatch.
