Mommy Deer
Another gorgeous sunset, they have been very pretty so deep orange lately. Yesterday morning mommy deer and 4 babies were up in the neighbor's back yard eating. They are so cute when they run and their little white tail flips up.

30 Day Sweater Challenge
I really need another project like I need another hole in my head. But... there are some good prizes and a chance to get my design published in a book. You have 30 days to complete a sweater, I got my yarn, using Lamb's Pride and Sheepish out of my stash. Black and hot pink, I will post my homework for the day and will see if I can keep on track with the schedule based on everything going on. Tomorrow starts the challenge. I have done my math and got my pattern sketched out. Nope you can't see it yet.

Sunrise, Sunset, Hummers, Christmas
Sometimes the sunrise and sunset are too gorgeous not to share. The hummers are almost gone, for the past 2 weeks there have been so many I can't count them and I filled the feeders daily, now I saw one yesterday and none so far today. I got some Christmas gifts done as well and the monarchs are out. The squirrel was in the tree eating the helicopter seeds. The crows have been out this week in the neighborhood, not sure why. The peppers are from dad's garden.

Jobs
I am cleaning files and shredding today, too hot to play outside. I found a list of the jobs I have had over my lifetime. I have had some jobs that weren't very glamorous or that most kids today would not even apply for. In the late 60' through the late 70's I did a lot of different things, a lot of manufacture work and it paid well for the time. It used to be that a job was a job and you took what you could get, got in on the ground floor and worked your way up. These jobs like fast food jobs are not meant to be career jobs nor are they to make a fortune. They are entry level positions that teach you responsibility- get yourself up, get to work early or at least on time and leave a little late or on time. Do what you are told and collect a paycheck.
When I was in Junior High I worked as a candystriper for FREE. It was a volunteer job but I learned a lot. In High School I worked in the office for $1.15/hour because I did not need that many credits but I could not go home early so I worked in the office doing things like stuffing grade cards in envelopes to be sent out, that was fun cos I got to see everyone's grades. I made rubber moldings for weed eaters for $1.65/hour, I detassled corn for $2.50/hour (I was rich). I worked for a moving company that packed up the soldiers at Fort Leavenworth for $2.50/hour and then I became a crew captain and made $3.00/hour-I loved this job and the days were long. I worked for Hallmark making the sleeves for Christmas balls for $2.30/hour.
They weren't glamour jobs and some of them were in hot factories with only fans, no a/c. But they taught me a lot and they were an entry to the career I eventually chose. So those of you who think you are owed $100K/year starting out, get in line. You have to start at the bottom like everyone else.

Hummers
I have had more hummers this year than ever before. Today there are 4 drinking the nectar like there is no tomorrow. I make my own and may have to make another batch today. My pictures are not very good through the dirty windows in my house. In the early morning they sit in the Butterfly Bush and talk to me and buzz my head. Now they are sharing the 2 feeders today and drinking like they are at a party. And a pretty butterfly.

Ric Rac or Rick Rack
I love rick rack, I have since I was a kid. Mom gave me a bag of old packages of rick rack the other day. I was looking at the back on one package and it says: "This product is guaranteed to be completely satisfactory and boil-fast. (Hmmm wonder what boil fast means and do you boil your rick rack?) Should any damage occur from the use of this trimming we guarantee to reimburse you for any materials or labor lost. (On further reading boil fast means fast to boiling-sunlight-perspiration or any ordinary use.) Use fast color thread in applying this material." I still don't know what boil fast means but I don't know what fast color thread is either. The company is Williamsport Narrow Fabric Co. from Williamsport Pennsylvania.
This package is Fast Color Tidy Trim Mercerized Rick Rack, 3 yards, Size 29.
BTW this company is now (Trimtex Company Inc is mostly involved in Narrow Fabric Mills. Trimtex Company Inc operates in Williamsport Pennsylvania 17703. This organization is involved in Narrow Fabric Mills as well as other possible related aspects and functions of Narrow Fabric Mills. In Williamsport Trimtex Company Inc maintains its local business operations and may well execute other local business operations outside of Pennsylvania in additional operations related to Narrow Fabric Mills.)
Socks and Pink Ladies
My goal was to make 24 pairs of socks but my lack of knitting interest has got in the way of my goal. I was reading Susan B Anderson's blog the other day and she posted her vacay socks, and that kind of got me back in the mood to knit so much that I knocked out 2 pair in a week. My pink ladies are blooming, the stalks are very thick and they are so pretty, when you walk by there is a faint sweet smell.
I got 17 sets of dishcloth/potholders done for the fall craft sale and 21 grocery bags. I also made myself a Halloween apron.

Peaches
It is peach season. Monday the store had these gorgeous peaches and they just begged me to make a pie. I always make a peach pie at the end of summer cos you just have to. Can you smell the pie, it is cooling right now. Don't forget to put a cookie sheet under the pie plate cos you know you don't want to clean the oven afterwards.

Zinnias
are one of my fav flowers. they are very drought and heat resistant and just stay for a long time. They are easy to grow and will reseed themselves for years. I had a large area but after many years of reseeding themselves they finally quit. Next year I know where the spot will be for a new batch. I needed a new bag for UMW stuff and found this one partially finished in my craft room, so here it is. Isn't it happy?

Lap Robes, Sunrise and Store Ad Coupon Pouch
I got the last 2 lap robes done. The sunrise the other morning was just gorgeous. I found this cute little pouch I just made up (pattern is at jedicraftgirl.blogspot.ca. When I run errands I put all my ads and lists and coupons on the passenger seat in the order which I am going. this way I can pack the pouch and put it in my purse and not forget anything. I am thinking Christmas gifts. What is that you say, yes I know it is not Halloween fabric, I found this and I love purple and poinsettias. I also finally got a picture of my hummingbird, there were two this morning and a baby earlier in the week. They are sure sucking down the nectar, I have to fill this every 3 days.
